Morris

I was watching my parents house last week while they were away. They have a neighbour called Morris. He's a partridge who likes small, loud motors. Whenever you're nearby with an ATV or a lawn tractor, he darts out of the woods to keep you company. I summoned him with the ATV in order to photograph him. It started out well, I was laying on the ground and he'd walk back and forth right in front of the camera. However, it turns out he's not as friendly as he first seemed. I got a few shots in before he decided he'd had enough. He charged the camera and started beating me with his wings and I think he latched on to my finger at one point. Luckily, his chops aren't that strong and my camera and I survived. Then I ate Morris for supper. Just kidding, he's fine.

Canadian Goose

Found this goose in a baseball field. He stood as I got closer and started honking, then flew away.

More Chickadees

I set out to find some ducks, but there were none. Just chickadees everywhere.

Chickadee

Found a bunch of chickadees on my walk last Saturday. They're pretty fast and don't stay still for very long. It was difficult to get a clear shot and with all the branches in the way, auto-focus was no good. It was good manual focus practice. None of them are as clear as I'd like.

Hawk

I went for a photo walk the other day looking for interesting photo op's, but didn't find much. I was on my way back to the car when I looked up in a tree and saw a hawk with his head turned around backwards staring right back at me. You don't see many hawks around where I live, so this was a treat. He didn't let me get very close before he flew away out of sight. Luckily, I was going to same way he was so we met up again later on, but I didn't see him until he flew away again. I was quick enough to get a few blurry shots.

Birds

I got a new lens for Chrismas!  It's a Canon EF-S 55-250 with Image Stableization.  I tested it out on some birds and a squirrel that liked to chase birds and hog all the seed for himself. I really like the first one, too bad he was looking away from the camera.  The Bluejay was taken looking sideways through a window, so it's not as clear.
