I got a new lens for Chrismas! It's a Canon EF-S 55-250 with Image Stableization. I tested it out on some birds and a squirrel that liked to chase birds and hog all the seed for himself. I really like the first one, too bad he was looking away from the camera. The Bluejay was taken looking sideways through a window, so it's not as clear.

Wow these are really nice Joel.
ReplyDeleteI had one of those (the last picture) on my back porch once.
The first one is breathtaking. What kind of camera do you use?
ReplyDeleteThanks, I use a Canon XSi. These pictures were taken with an EF-S 55-250mm lens.
ReplyDeleteI too love that first image. They are all great but that first one is impressive. You use a tripod always? Your pictures are always very crisp and clear. Nice job. Thanks for your comments on my blog as well. I respect your opinion.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteI often use a tripod indoors or in low light, but this was a bright sunny day so I could get really quick shutter speeds (1/400 sec).
I've read that a good rule of thumb is:
In order to eliminate motion blur caused by camera shake, your shutter speed should be the inverse of the length of your lens or faster. My lens is 250mm so a shutter speed of 1/250 of a second would have been fast enough. Any shutter speed slower then that would need a tripod or maybe image stabilization of some sort.
cool! I own a Canon 40D and I am recently starting to add new lenses to my collection. This lens is definitely one I"ll be researching...
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! All of your photos are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is my favorite, it's a shame the bird was looking away.
