Texture / Detail

Another easy way to get interesting photos is to look for textures in ordinary, every-day things.  Everything has some sort of texture, you just need to find right spot.  It doesn't matter if the viewer is even able to identify the object in the photo.  In fact, not being able to identify it could make it more interesting as they try to fugure out what it could be.

  1. You should try a lemon or an orange. Nice pics.

  2. Hey Mac!
These photos are fantastic. And I'm referring to all three posts. It's funny, a co-worker of mine and I were talking today (I'll leave all names off the web, but we all know who we are talking about=) ), were talking today and realized that despite the fact that we've all worked together, it's surprising just how much we don't know about one another.

How long have you been taking pictures? Seems like you're pretty good with the camera, you must have been doing this for a while. Any courses?

My wife is into photography, and is also pretty good with the camera. I lack the eye for it...

Anywho, Keep them coming, I'll sit back in awe and enjoy what you guys come up with.

  3. Well I've been taking pictures for a long time, but I've just recently gotten into photography's technical side, it's been about a week and a half now. I use to just take pictures with a cheap little point and shoot camera, mostly for the purpose of capturing memories, but it didn't offer much flexibility to get creative. So I got an SLR camera and the difference is quite amazing.

I've thought about taking a course, but haven't looked into it yet. Do you know anyplace that offers them?

I'm always interested to see and learn from other people's work, does your wife have any pictures online?

    Thanks for the comments!

  5. Thanks.

I'm using a Canon XSi with an 18-55mm lens.

  6. I love the jeans pic... I don't know why! I think it's because it's such an ordinary thing that we see all the time, but don't take notice of.
